Endless Long wait for Lakshadweep - Kerala travel; There is a huge shortage of ship tickets
Islanders allege that officials are reserving nominal offline tickets for those who they need.
There is a huge shortage of ferry tickets from Lakshadweep to Kerala and back. The crisis has been compounded by the curtailment of ferry services and 80% of ticket sales going online. Many people who need to come to Kerala for essential matters including treatment are facing difficulties without getting tickets.
Earlier there were seven ferry services from Lakshadweep to Kerala. Despite the High Court order that three vessels should be mandatorily in service, only two are actually in service. Eighty percent of tickets are sold online. It is also not possible to buy tickets online from Lakshadweep as the network speed is very low.
Islanders allege that officials are reserving nominal offline tickets for those they need. Currently, one has to wait for weeks to get a ticket. After Praful Khoda Patel came as Lakshadweep administrator, there have been allegations of anti-people measures in Lakshadweep.
