Coast Guard's "Samarth" ship will now be in Kochi. To carry out coastal protection mission of Kerala and Lakshadweep

A modern ship 'Samarth', which will increase the efficiency of the Kochi Coast Guard, has arrived in Kochi from Goa. Samarth is a bigger ship with a length of 105 meters compared to the current smaller ships.

It is a multi-purpose vessel. Along with coast guard, the ship has marine rescue, oil spill recovery system, pollution response system for marine cleaning and fire fighting system. Recently, a huge narcotics hunt was conducted in the sea near Lakshadweep by Samarth ship.

Samarth was also present for the rescue operation when a fire broke out in the engine room of Lakshadweep's largest passenger ship, MV Kavarathi. The ship is designed to carry a twin-engine helicopter and four high-speed boats, including two inflatable boats for sea patrolling. The twin-engined ship also has a bow thruster (BT) system that can be turned from a standing position. Maximum speed is 23 nautical miles. The ship was commissioned in Goa in 2015. Considering that it is a strategic area, the ship is brought to Kochi. Including these, the Coast Guard currently has 13 small and medium vessels.
