ASI and son fined for traveling without ticket: action taken by the port department.


Port Department has taken action against Lakshadweep Police ASI and his son for traveling from Lakshadweep to Kochi without ticket. Wireless ASI KP Muralidharan and his son were fined by the port department. Last September 8, both of them traveled from Lakshadweep to Kochi by MV Arabian Sea ship. Both have been fined Rs 70,200 for traveling on the ship without tickets. The action is based on the June 16 order of the port department, which imposed a fine of 10 times the highest first class fare on ship passengers without a ticket.The action is based on the June 16 order of the port department, which imposed a fine of 10 times the highest first class fare on ship passengers without a ticket. It was suggested to pay ten times of the maximum ticket price of first class ticket for two people of Rs.3510 (3510X10X2=70,200/-).The port department took action after people protested that the police officer had misused his authority.


 The amount of fine imposed shall be paid into the account of the Port Department within seven days or to the Port Assistant Officer within 14 days with receipt. The action was taken in the order issued by the Port Assistant Officer P. Ashraf Ali on September 15.
